Steel Fence and Gate Installations, Orlando Florida.
We installed a lot of decorative steel fence in 2010. There were several businesses that hired us to install commercial grade steel fence to protect their buildings and employees from uninvited or unwanted visitors and guests. Most of the fence we installed came from Ameristar Fence from Tulsa OK. They have a high quality product that is galvanized and then poly coated. It is a high quality product that is strong, secure and comes with a 20 year guarantee at an affordable price. Most of what we installed was 6′ tall fence with 3/4″ pressed spear pickets, 2.5″ posts concreted in the ground. My installation crew members and I are very impressed with Ameristar’s quality and strength. There is something about the way the steel feels compared to aluminum. It’s heavy, strong and just seems to feel better. If strength and security are an issue I would definitely recommend steel fence over aluminum. If it’s price and ‘looks’ than aluminum wins.

Wood Privacy Board on Board Fence
We have some top notch wood fence. The best part of our wood fence is that it is all custom built on site. This allows us to accomodate slopes and grade variations on your property. No pre-made panels! We start by installing 4″x4″x 8′ posts. Then we use real 2″x4″x8′ rails which make the frame. Pre-made panels ususually come with skimpy 2″x3″x8′ rails that sag in the middle and warp because they are not strong enough to support the pickets.
We then use about 30 lbs. of mixed concrete to keep the posts stable and nail the pickets in place. The best selling picket we have is a 1″x6″x6′ heavy duty picket. It is pressure treated and stabilized with wax to repel water. We use 3 1/4″ galvanized ring shank nails to secure the rails to the posts and 2″ galvanized ring shank nails to attach the pickets to the rails.
The fence carries a limited lifetime warranty from the wood treating company. Please contact our office for the specific details and limitations of the warranty.
Aluminum Fence Facts in Orlando, Florida
Aluminum fence is very popular for those who are looking to secure their yard while preserving a view. We have installed decorative aluminum fences at some of the finest homes in the area. Lake front homes, houses on golf courses, houses on nature preserves and places that don’t require a privacy fence.
These fences are produced with hundreds of different options. The picket sizes vary from 5/8′s of inch, to 3/4′s of an inch and to 1″ in diameter. The top of the fence can be flat, come with pressed spears, or decorative finials. Some of the adornments that can be added for a custom touch are estate scrolls, butterfly’s, rings and ball caps.
One of the pet friendly features available is what is called a “Puppy PIcket”. This feature keeps even the smallest pets contained. The bottom 18″ of the fence section comes with double pickets that allow only a 1.5″ gap. This is a necessity for someone looking to keep in a very small dog or pet.
Virtually all of the aluminum available today is powder coated rather than painted. This finish is guaranteed not to chip, crack peel or fade.
We recommend using aluminum from just a few select manufacturers. There are some manufacturers that use very plain and unappealing extrusions. We avoid these suppliers completely.

Vinyl Fence Information
Vinyl is a short way of saying “Poly Vinyl Chloride” or PVC.
It is a very durable product that can withstand the harsh outdoor environment. It is safe and does not leach chemicals into the soil or environment. Vinyl is classified as self extinguishing which means that if it is lit on fire is will self extinguish and not continue to burn.
Vinyl is a product which can be recycled. It can be ground and then reformed into other vinyl products.
Virgin Vinyl: This is new material that has not been recycled. We recommend using virgin vinyl fence. “Regrind” or “Grey-back” is a recycled vinyl that has a greater chance of having varying consistency.
Co-extrusions are used only in top quality vinyl. The inner layer adds strength and flexibility while the outer layer has UV inhibiting compounds. The main UV inhibiting compound is titanium dioxide. This is the same UV inhibiting compound found in sun tan lotion.
A big difference in the vinyl available today is the way it is held together. High quality vinyl fence is held together with pre-routed posts and pocket rails. Low quality fence is constructed with blank posts, metal brackets and then the flimsy pre-assembled fence sections are screwed to the brackets. Top quality vinyl fences don’t use screws! The differences really add up and we recommend seeking the consultation of a professional before purchasing a fence that is designed to last a lifetime.
Soil Conditions for fence installation in Central Florida
In the Orlando area we are fortunate to have soil with few underground obstacles such as shale, coral, rocks and boulders. This allows us to put our posts where we want them without having to use backhoes and jack hammers to smash through hard objects. In other parts of the country installation costs are significantly higher due to the extra equipment and labor needed to set the posts.
The soil here is comprised mostly of fine sand. The fine sand does not compact well and for this reason we recommend using pre-mixed concrete on each and every post. The concrete is mixed and hardens and it helps keep the posts straight and strong.
